Dear Fellow Texans,
As you ahave heard, the federal government is upholding its constitutional mandate and is currently conducting a nationwide census. But why is it important that YOU and rural West Texans participate in this census?
At the national level, the fewer Texans that are counted, the MORE power we give to other states such as California and New York through congressional representation. In addition, we would lose out on a greater share of the $675 billion in federal funds that flow into our local communities based on population.
At the state level, urban populations are booming and rural Texas is growing slowly at best. We need to ensure that rural Texans are not undercounted so we can receive proper and fair representation.
It takes only 5 minutes to complete the census. Click here to get started!
The Snyder Chamber of Commerce mission statement is simple-- We provide a strong foundation for our community by partnering with businesses, creating networks and promoting growth through chamber support and tourism. The chamber is composed of businesses and individuals who come together to promote commerce. Chamber officials also want to make sure Snyder is a great place to live.
Visitors can stop by the chamber office and find out about places to stay, eat and have fun. The staff works closely with its board of directors to ensure visitors and businesses are greeted with smiles. Board members are asked to serve on chamber committees, with the events committee working on several annual events. It helps with the Snyder Wheels Club Car Show, West Texas Western Swing Festival, Fourth of July Celebration in the Park, White Buffalo Days, The Hunter Appreciation Dinner, and the Lighted Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting.
Other committees include small business, membership, governmental affairs, finance and fundraising and nominating. Each year, the chamber hosts its annual membership banquet to honor the work of the board and the community. The annual event, held at The Coliseum, is the one time all members gather under one roof.
In addition to making sure its members are treated well, the chamber welcomes new members with ribbon-cutting ceremonies. It is just one way chamber members can welcome a new friend into the community.
